The Reshaping of ASEAN: Consequences for East Asian Growth

On Vietnam’s reform:

F. Zakaria, CNN: “10 years ago […] Vietnam is the next China […] Now, nobody says this anymore.”

Vietnam should be the next of itself (not a “copy” of). Labor intensity > technology intensity (knowledge-based economy) is not a China’s invention. What we may learn/do is to grow together as a responsible member of the sustainable world via the network or sharing economy.

On disputes settlement for the South China Sea:
F. Zakaria, CNN: “Do you see any mechanism [role] for ASEAN on this?”
G.L. Domingo, Secretairy of Trade & Industry, Philippines: “It’s possible. But ASEAN not to choose to do it. Although not all parties of ASEAN involved in the disputes.”
